Sandustry Kinetic Press: 25-Block Drop Guide

The Kinetic Press converts one Burnt Residue into one Gold and one Seed when the material falls at least 25 blocks onto the top of the machine. Both products leave from below.

Current Name and Recipe

Use the current Early Access terms:

1 Burnt Residue + 25-block minimum fall → 1 Gold + 1 Seed

Older Demo guides call the building a Kinetic Slag Press and the input Burnt Slag. Those names no longer describe the current production chain.

Required Drop Height

Burnt Residue must hit the top of the Kinetic Press after falling at least 25 blocks. A shorter drop does not provide enough kinetic input, even when the material type is correct.

Build the drop shaft first, then place the Press at the bottom with a clear area underneath for Gold and Seed. Avoid ledges or side flows that interrupt the full fall.

Why the Press Is Jammed

Material remains on top of the Press when:

• it is not Burnt Residue;
• the Burnt Residue fell less than 25 blocks;
• or a failed input remains on top and blocks later valid material.

The Press is not itself a Conveyor Belt. The official Wiki suggests angled Launchers aimed toward a side opening at the top, allowing bad input to be cleared from the impact area.

Automation Layout

A good starting layout has four distinct sections:

1. A controlled Residue burn chamber.
2. A vertical shaft with at least 25 clear blocks.
3. The Kinetic Press aligned under the shaft.
4. Separate output collection below for Gold and Seed.

The building blocks liquids, gases, and the player, so do not route unrelated flows through its footprint.

The current work-in-progress Research page lists the Kinetic Press at Tier 2 for 500 Gold. That value unlocks the research; it is not the material cost of placing one machine.
