How to Remove Haulers in Sandustry

What is actually confirmed about removing Haulers in Early Access, the old Drone Admin plan, and why common workarounds are not deletion.

There is no verified public step-by-step method for deleting one specific Hauler in the current Early Access build. Do not follow guides that invent a Drone Management menu, delete button, refund, or default hotkey without current in-game evidence.

What Is Confirmed in Early Access?

The current Hauler reference confirms that Haulers move items, do not deal damage, and can be upgraded. Its Mechanics, Tips, and Bugs sections do not document deletion, rerouting, capacity release, cargo handling, or refunds.

The public v0.5.3 announcement also does not describe a Drone Admin or Hauler removal flow.

The Historical Drone Admin Plan

During the 2025 Demo, the developer said a planned Drone Admin feature would allow players to lock, modify, and delete selected drones. This is good evidence that the problem was understood, but it is a historical development plan rather than proof the feature shipped under that name in Early Access.

Demo information also described deleting the oldest drone after reaching the drone limit while Drone Admin was still on the way. That FIFO behavior must not be presented as a current guarantee.

Why the Empty-Route Workaround Is Not Deletion

Some players send a Hauler back and forth over empty ground so it stops doing useful work. This may neutralize its route, but the drone still exists. There is no confirmed evidence that the workaround frees a capacity slot, refunds resources, or safely disposes of carried material.

How to Check Your Current Build

Before changing a save:

  1. Record the game version shown in the menu.
  2. Inspect the Hauler selection panel and research/build interfaces for a current management action.
  3. Test only after making a backup save.
  4. Check whether cargo, capacity, and resources change after the action.
  5. Treat instructions without a matching version number or screenshot as unverified.

Until a current official page or reproducible build test documents deletion, the safe answer is that targeted Hauler removal remains unconfirmed.
