Sandustry Infinite Water Guide

Learn the two confirmed renewable Water sources in Sandustry, how Snow becomes rain, and how to move Water without losing it.

“Infinite Water” in Sandustry means a renewable source that does not run out. It does not mean infinite output speed. Current information confirms at least two renewable sources: Snow from a Cryoblaster and Water pulses from Lumlings.

Cryoblaster, Snow, Steam, and Rain

The Cryoblaster route is:

Cryoblaster → Snow → heat with Fire → Steam → rise to Sky → rain → Water

A Cryoblaster continuously creates Snow. Heating that Snow turns it into Steam. When Steam reaches the Sky, it condenses and falls as Water. The Steam reference also records condensation after roughly 30 seconds when Steam is completely trapped with no upward path, but treat that timing as version-sensitive until you test it in the current build.

This loop needs space. A sealed low ceiling can slow or change where condensation occurs, while an open vertical shaft lets Steam rise normally.

Renewable Water from Lumlings

Lumlings live in underground caves and release small amounts of Water in regular pulses. A Corraller can capture and relocate them. More Lumlings increase total output, but no official source confirms a fixed per-creature rate or a rule such as “three are always enough.”

Build a basin beneath the release area. Water seeks low ground, so a shaped catchment is more reliable than expecting loose droplets to remain on flat terrain.

Pump and Liquid Vent Layout

A confirmed transport chain is:

source pool → Pump → Pipe → Liquid Vent → destination pool

Pumps and Liquid Vents occupy 4×4 blocks; their central 2×2 region performs the actual intake or output. Keep solids away from the Pump intake. At the destination, a Vent may stop when the Water level reaches the Vent’s height, so place it above the desired fill line.

Why Water Disappears

Scattered droplets that never settle into a depression may disappear after roughly 45 seconds. This is not a rule that drains every pool on a 45-second timer.

Water is also consumed by useful reactions:

  • 1 Sand + 1 Water → 2 Wet Sand
  • 1 Seed + 1 Water → 1 Wet Seed

Dirt is a source of Sand; Dirt does not react directly with Water to create Wet Sand.

Common Misunderstandings

  • A Pump can only move Water that still exists; it cannot recover a vanished droplet.
  • Turning existing Water into Steam and back into Water does not prove a net gain.
  • Old duplication bugs and third-party layouts are not current renewable-source evidence.
  • Claims that one method is the “only” infinite source conflict with current Cryoblaster and Lumling references.
